Angela María Cardona
I come from a family of “Paisas” farmers; my parents used to harvest coffee in the beautiful mountains of the Caldas department. Over the years, they migrated to the Valle del Cauca, a prosperous and diverse agricultural department, where my father worked very hard and was able to retire from a large sugar company. Being so close to the agricultural sector, I always envisioned being part of it in some way. When I finished my studies in International Trade, I had the wonderful opportunity to start my professional career in the sales and marketing area of an organic lime exporter. There, I learned and discovered even more about the immense agricultural potential of my region and, of course, Colombia—a country I feel prouder of every day.
My strength is in the commercial area (which I love 😊). I have met different producers and importers from various countries with whom I have built good, honest, and empathetic business relationships where transparency and mutual support are the most important factors in such a changing and risky sector.
This is how I came to FMI, a dynamic company with a long history and deep knowledge of the sector, backed by an excellent and experienced team that I feel very happy and confident working with.
At FMI, one of my main objectives is to open new pathways, strengthening the company’s presence in Colombia and seeking business opportunities with different tropical and exotic fruits. I aim to be a supportive partner to suppliers, always open to finding solutions and achieving great results while providing high-quality fruit to our clients in Europe.
In my free time, I spend a lot of time with my family and friends. I also enjoy physical activities and play volleyball—it’s my passion! I’ve been playing since I was 10, starting competitively and now as an amateur. And believe me, my knees still work almost perfectly, haha!”
